Since 1st April 2018, Southglade Medical Practice has been operated by Nottingham City GP Alliance. We are currently accepting new patients and are working hard to increase the number of appointments we offer. This is in line with our commitment to provide excellent service to the communities of Bestwood, Top Valley and Rise Park. Southglade Medical Practice can be found in the Southglade Health Centre building, directly opposite Southglade Leisure Centre.

About Us

We are situated within Southglade Park and all patients living in the surrounding area can come and register with us.

We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.

Serving You

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. Our interactive website also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or book or cancel an appointmentOur patients can also access additional appointments at the GP+ service in Nottingham city centre.

We aim to offer you the best experience within our practice, but we understand that sometimes you may feel this has not happened. Should you be unhappy, or concerned, about any aspect of your treatment or care please contact our Practice Manager, Carol either by phone (0115 977 0224) or email.

Partners in Care

Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.

We have ample parking and the building is friendly towards those of our patients who have a disability including automatic doors at the main entrance and Braille signage on all the doors to the toilet facilities. We also have baby changing and feed rooms, disabled toilet facilities, a loop hearing system at reception and a wheelchair is available for use on request.

Within the waiting area, there is a designated space for prams and mobility scooters. Externally there are dedicated parking facilities for the disabled and young families, as well as bicycle racks.

Change of management

Following an extensive procurement process by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG the General Medical Service contract fort Southglade Medical Practice has been awarded to Oprose Health.

Oprose Health will commence management of Southglade Medical Practice from 1 October 2020.

Please rest assured the change is in management only and will have no direct impact on the care and services you receive from the team.

Everyone at NCGPA extends a heartfelt thank you for all your support while we have been caretaker managers of Southglade. It has been a pleasure to serve and work with the local community and we wish you all the best health for the future.

OH Patient FAQ's

The NHS in Nottingham and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to protect patients, our community and NHS staff while ensuring as many services as possible are available to the public.

If you have symptoms associated with Coronavirus including a new continuous cough, or a high temperature, or loss of taste or sense of smell, you are advised to stay at home for 7 days.

Please do not book a GP appointment or attend our GP practice.

If you live with other people, they should stay at home for at least 14 days, to avoid spreading the infection outside the home. After 14 days, anyone you live with who does not have symptoms can return to their normal routine.

But, if anyone in your home gets symptoms, they should stay at home for 7 days from the day their symptoms start. Even if it means they're at home for longer than 14 days. The most up-to-date public guidance is always online at

If your symptoms are serious, or get worse, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need further medical help and advise you what to do.

Only call 111 direct if you are advised to do so by the online service or you cannot go online.

Information about Coronavirus in easy read format has been created by Photosymbols.

There is information about Coronavirus available in British Sign Language available on NCGPA's website.

Out of hours medical advice

If you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation during out of hours you should contact the NHS 111 service.

NHS111 may refer you to NEMS Community Benefit Services Ltd, Out of Hours Service. They provide medical support outside normal surgery hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays) emergency cover for our practice.

The Out of Hours Service provides medical care for patients that do not need Emergency Department Care. It's a service that is led by a range of clinical staff such as GPs, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Emergency Care Practitioners.

This service is for problems that can't wait until the next available surgery. You will be required to provide full information about your problem and may be expected to attend Platform One Practice (based on Station Street, Nottingham) if necessary. Advice may also be given if attending a face to face appointment is not deemed to be required.

The surgery will be CLOSED on the following BANK HOLIDAYS:

Friday 8th May – Early May bank holiday

Monday 25th May – Spring bank holiday

Monday 31st August – Summer bank holiday

Friday 25th December – Christmas Day

Monday 28th December – Boxing Day

#HelpUsHelpYou Repeat medication requests take us slightly longer to process when there's been a Bank Holiday. Remember to plan ahead!

We're here for you, for longer!

With effect from 1st July, the surgery now opens earlier on alternate Wednesdays and Thursdays so we can offer EXTRA GP appointments from 7:30am. Ideal if you require an appointment before work or school. Please enquire at reception to book.

Patients registered at this practice can now access additional routine appointments at our new city centre NHS service, GP+ Nottingham CitySpeak to our reception team to book.banner
